It’s About the Numbers – But Here’s the Cool Part

Ever wonder why “Latitude 32°” is plastered all over our logo? It’s not just because it sounds cool (though it totally does). We’re literally sitting right on the 32nd parallel north – that invisible line that wraps around the Earth about 2,200 miles up from the equator.”Latitude 32°” is on our logo because we’re literally on the 32nd parallel north – the line that circles the globe about 2,200 miles above the equator.

Our Story

2010

At the time, Latitude 32 was a neighborhood pub known as a Chargers bar. Several players lived nearby and often stopped in for beers and a sandwich. Signed Chargers jerseys were — and still are — prominently displayed in the bar. It was a good match.

Several regulars, though, were Redskins fans. The closest Redskins bar was Winston’s in OB, so most Sundays that small group would wait outside Latitude for a cab to take them there. One Sunday morning in 2010, walking into the bar, I found them waiting for their ride, looking rough after a late Saturday night. I suggested they save themselves the hassle and just watch the game here instead. They did — and for most of that season, a small but consistent group started watching games at Latitude.

By the next season, they’d been given the back room so they could have audio for their games. By the end of the 2011 season, there was a nice-sized crowd of Redskins fans every week. In 2012, we made it official: Latitude 32 was a Redskins bar — one that took priority even over Chargers games.

A few years later, we leased out the kitchen to a longstanding Philadelphia sandwich shop, Alex’s Brown Bag. The owner, Jim, was a die-hard Philly sports fan and insisted the back room be reserved for Eagles games. Alex’s had a great reputation and we loved the food, so we agreed. And that’s how the world’s only Eagles/Commanders bar was born.

2025

After 29 years working at Latitude 32, Dale took over as bar owner. As a rabid Eagles fan, there was no chance it wasn’t staying an Eagles bar. The Washington crew has been an asset to this business since that fateful day in 2010 — we’ve peacefully coexisted for over 10 years, and I see no reason to change that now.
